SnagIt is a Windows tool that enables you to take screenshots and make quality video recordings. This program might prove to be of good use to those who need to make tutorials for their apps, take snapshots of their Skype conversations, capture areas from their desktops and share the results with other users, and so much more.
In my testing, I used the trial version of the utility. In order to use it on my computer, I had to create a personal TechSmith account on the homepage of the developer. The next thing I needed to do was to log into my account in my default web browser. Then, I was able to work with SnagIt. It's a pretty tedious process but definitely worth it considering the number of useful features this tool has to offer.
You can use the program to take snapshots of an area from your screen or your entire desktop, make a video tutorial for a tool you developed, etc. The utility enables you to define global hotkeys for immediately completing tasks, like taking screenshots and starting and stopping video recordings.
Another great advantage is the fact that SnagIt supports a lot of output formats for exporting screenshots and gives you access to various image editing options. Sadly, I can't say the same about the video recordings as the program supports only one output format (MP4) and lacks editing options.
Still, SnagIt is one of the most feature-rich screen capturing utilities I tested on my Windows PC. Plus, it provides you with high-quality results and is very simple to handle.
- Supports multiple image formats
- Provides you with various snapshot editing options
- Lets you define global hotkeys for immediately completing certain tasks
- Offers you quality output files
- Lets you share your results on various websites and online services
- Supports only one format for exporting video recordings (MP4)
